We stopped for a day in Wyoming at a fossil quarry on the shores of an ancient lake near Fossil Butte National Monument to whack on rocks looking for ancient fishies. It was a fun change of pace from the rest of the trip, and was hard to stop looking, as you always think the next rock is going to be the good one.
After this day, it seemed prudent to get a cheap hotel room in town and finally take a shower...
