Gates of Lodore and Flaming Gorge

Sometimes you see a name on the map and just need to go somewhere based on the name.  In this case, there is a section of the Green River in the corner of Dinosaur National Monument called the "Gates of Lodore".  It has a first-come-first-serve campground that mostly serves as a launch point for river rafters that looked like a good place to camp.  The area didn't disappoint; we were able to take a short hike to admire the river and had no problem getting a campsite despite the fact that it was Saturday night.

The next day we wound our way around Flaming Gorge,

with a small diversion along the "Sheep Creek Geological Route", because how can one resist that name and hundreds of millions of years of rocks,

and then found ourselves camped along the edge of the reservoir in a large empty campground that had hot showers.
